doomscrolled video game job listings and man. you have to either sell your soul working on some god awful mobile game with terrible art direction or be born with 3+ years of experience, and the in-between is working as a freelancer and picking between worse and worst clients

#i know i should be more flexible as an artist #do a wide variety of things and all that #learn something other than 2d #but the 3d courses i've seen (and tried) all make me want to kms #sorry for being negative #working on something enjoyable and earning money from it seems like such a far-fetched dream these days

Omg there is something that is like nothing else when you listen to music that inspired your favorite artists and you can hear exactly what must have most excited them about the music and what elements they took with them and worked into their own art in different ways and you can hear that and then you think about how what they did with all those elements and their own original ideas in their own music that inspired you and other artists and how of course the musicians that inspired them were inspired by other artists that were their favorites and you think about that thread of inspiration and admiration and love that's running through all this different stuff that people create and just omg i have to sit down i'm dizzy

#very obvious statement but there's just something that gets me really excited when i sit down and listen closely and think about all the #commonalities and similarities and i can hear specific stuff that must have influenced them and like. idk it does give you a much deeper #appreciation for an artist if you listen to a wide variety of stuff theyve cited as influential cos then you get this like whole map #and you can see how these different parts went to make up the whole and what they did with them and stuff #It's also like idk its like how people are made up of all the little parts of other people theyve met of course every musician is this #mosaic of all the stuff they've listened to and liked and gotten really excited by and it's sooooo beautiful like wowwww. wow #like when you look at the pieces and it makes sense how it fits into the overall thing and then its beautiful to do this too because you #find stuff you really really love as well in its own right obviously but aueghhhhhhh yeah yeah. yeah

finally finished all of one character's entire quests/optional dialogue/questions/etc.... 100,000 words... .... aughhh

#Given some of it IS lines of code and stuff but like.. minus all that it's still probably at least 85 - 95k words hhhhhh #AND I have to do this for another 3 characters. Then a few partial quests for 3 others. THEN the other random misc stuff in the game #(like there are public areas in the city like a park and a forest that you can go and do a few things at. and chat with a few random #townsfolk that aren't actually full characters or anything. And there's a community board where you can #browse some of the random job advertisments or silly things that happen to be posted around #and also pick up a few odd jobs of your own to help earn coin to buy gifts for the npcs. etc. etc.)#Originally I was thinking like 'ah I'll make a short little game just to try it out! :3 It'll take maybe a few months!''#haha........................hee hee........................................hoho #Also evil that it would have been done already if I didn't totally drop itand stop working on it for like 5 years randomly #i could have made 5 years of steady slow progress gradually. instead of like 'one initial idea dump + about a month of art and writing'#...... 5 year break..... 'sudden mad dash to try to get probably 400.000 words written in a year or less' lol #I just really want to be done and have something out there already so it can lead to doing other things in my world..!!!!!! T o T #Like this can be an introduction and then maybe from that I can make other games. or short story anthologies. or other such things #But there needs to be some initially not very complex easy to interact with starting point first I guess... if that makes sense #That's part of why I stopped posting worldbuilding lore dump stuff as often because its' like.. massive walls of novella length #text are much more inacessible to engage with than like.. ooh a game! and there's characters! so its more approachable! and theres #visuals! oo! and the text is broken up in small bits line by line with other things in betwen! oo! etc. etc. lol #Not that THIS is even very accessible. I think dialogue heavy interactive fiction/visual novel type stuff is pretty niche and considered #boring or tedious compared to something with more ''gamplay'' like where you can actually move around in a world #and shoot things or whatever lol. But its an inbetween point. something SLIGHTLY #more accesible for now. Since i just dont have the budget or means or ability to make some skyrim type thing obviously LOL #Though maybe if theres any interest in the visual novel that could lead to making other things too. or at least I hope. I have a VERY cool #idea for a more ''gamey'' type of game that is a super fun concept and etc. but I would need to hire at least 2 people to make it.. ough..#I could do all the writing and probably half of the art. But I think I'd inevitably need a 3d artist and someone who can Code For Real hbjh #the system for ren'py (the thing I'm making a visual novel in) is not that complicated if you stick to just simple dialogue and stuff.#Making a whole moderately sized 3d game with minigames in it and a bunch of quest features and etc. would be out of my simplistic scope #''just learn it yourself!!' ... i barely manage to eat and sleep reliably every day lol... i do not function well enough to spend months #learning that many new skills. I already have a lot of of things I'm good at (not in a braggy way but just factually like.. i already have #a wide variety of different things under my belt).. at some point I have to just be happy with what i CAN already do and focus on that #and admit I need to get outside help sometimes ghjbh... NO more new skills/hobbies!!! ... ANYWAY

This may sound like such a stupid thing to worry about, but I have no idea what kind of wedding dress I want. I plan on sewing my own, but every single dress on my pinterest board is completely different, and I have no idea what kind of style I want.

I just want a nice dress that makes me feel happy :(

#considering going to a bridal salon just to try different fits and see what i like on myself #but the issue here is that none of them seem to have a wide variety of siluettes and styles #cause they're either all done according to the wedding trend (aka they all have the exact same ugly type of neckline) and #just look 'slightly' different #or it's a store of one specific designer and so the style and fits will all be pretty similar to each other too #look when it comes to clother the most important thing to me is always the siluette #and only then do I consider what kind of additions I wanna have #mine #getting married

made the realization my vampire story would work best as a video game and now i can't stop thinking about it

#personal #like. vtm meets cyberponk. do you understand #it would be very focused on prioritizing... because you do play as a fully established character #but you get a bunch of jobs to take care of and you have to decide what you do first and most importantly how you solve it #you can combine certain jobs to do at once to save yourself time and effort but everything you do comes with consequences #if you ignore a problem for too long or deal with it poorly it will come back to bite you in the ass later. you can lose friends and such #basically you have it all from the start and then gradually like. work your way towards a single ending #locking yourself out of other paths because of the choices that you make etc etc and so on #friendships can help you out but they can also get in the way of other things so you have to think about like #how far you're willing to let yourself get distracted. but also no distractions is also a bad way to go at it because you'll end up alone #it would have a wide variety of endings but i suppose the 'canon' one would be the one where everything works out #because of the whole already established character thing. and also this is not real this is my story so i can do what i want #if it was an actual video game it wouldn't have a canon ending but it's never gonna happen so i can say it has a canon ending #but yeah you can play as heavenly the vampire hunter or as sun the vampire and then you get cool vampire abilities :]#i do like the idea of romance availability but they're different depending on who you play as #valentine can be romanced by both but he's a little brat so idk if you'd want that #isaac can only be romanced by heavenly because isaac is a gay man. valeska can be romanced by sun only because #valeska and heavenly are exes. so you can have a one night stand with her as heavenly and then she ghosts you LMAO #you can go into clubs... you can play carousel with npcs. it would be a very immersive experience #if you hang out at certain clubs too much then other vampire factions will be warier of you when you visit their club instead #you can forge alliances to be allowed into certain areas in town. you can disguise yourself. you have to hide your weapons #there's actual ways you can research locations or people involved in gigs so you can prepare yourself properly and potentially like #learn new things that open up a new way to deal with a situation #sometimes you have to wait until nighttime to be able to go somewhere because it's quieter around those hours. or vice versa #sometimes you have to wait a few days before someone can meet with you but if you miss the meeting you have to reschedule #and then you have to wait even longer. and some quests don't give you that much time so then you'd have to improvise #being spotted in a location can be dealt with by wiping security footage / killing the person who saw you. or just reloading your save #but if you've been spotted and you don't take care of it then that will ALSO have consequences. etc etc and so on #difficulty level in the game would determine how generous the game is surrounding stealth / time for quests / resilience of the guy you pla #and it wouldn't like. necessarily turn enemies into bullet sponges because that's lazy. it's much more fun to change other things

Still thinking about the interaction I had over the weekend (where there was genuine right wing unrest in my city waheyy) where I popped a message onto my colleagues-but-we're-friends-we-go-for-drinks-and-dinner-sonetimes chat to make sure ppl were staying safe (many of us are of various minority groups) and I get a bit salty about how the police were mostly being shit and harassing the counter-protestors and one person pipes up with 'I don't subscribe to the acab thing sorry 😂' after talking about how many police were injured in other unrest and like.

I had to fully disengage myself because I work with and am friendly with these folks but sometimes you get smacked in the head with an opinion and suddenly lose the trust and respect you'd been building for someone over the last year huh

#im a big believer in not entrenching yourself in an echochamber and understanding things especially irl from a wide variety of backgrounds #and perspectives and being able to form your own opinion and convey that to others even when you disagree #but as a 27 year old trying their best to make new adult friendships and work being the best place to do that its. difficult.#lick the boot all you like I'll still be your colleague and work friend but fundamentally we Seriously disagree here #go on publicly mock me for having my dead rats in my freezer because its expensive to get them cremated and i want to wait until i buy #a house to bury them because thats BANTER but in 2024 do you really think our police is fit for purpose and doesnt unfairly treat minorities #because your family member was a cop? so its fine that the police let the EDL run rampant whilst only kettling the counter protestors bc #theyre chicken shit and can get away with it because the lefties wont fight back #lets all laugh at the racists getting bricked in the nuts together whilst IGNORING the part the police play in this situation #with several gays queers and muslims in the same group chat yh #no racism or islamophobia or homophobia or transphobia in the police no siree #ANYWAY my other work friend who was in another city at the time with worse right wing rioting replied to my 'you safe?' msg like acab?acab👍#rant posting over sorry guys i had another banana milkshake to calm down

So while looking into the 90’s/early 00’s RE comics some more I noticed this interesting detail of Leon going with Claire to Europe to find Chris after the Raccoon City incident.

While most of these comic stories are not considered canon and more so "what if" or "inspired" stories instead of retellings, it's interesting to see how the comic writers for this comic magazine imagined the lore for the series would happen considering how little they were given to work with.

#I do also wish there was this time of doing a wide variety of merch things in the west as well #again #like these comics and the action figures #I know they were mostly trying to capitalize on the success for money’s sake but at least we still got cool merch from it #nowadays it feels like Japan gets all the goodies and we just get stuff with the umbrella logo slapped on it #also okay yes Claire looks like Lara Croft lol #reno2005

I just want to give a heads up - I went Thru A Thing yesterday and I'm going to be drawing a vent image containing gore, specifically decapitation and eye trauma. So if that's going to be upsetting for you please make sure you have gore/decapitation/eye trauma blacklisted.

Please don't come at me for posting such things on what is my main (only) art blog. This is my art blog and I'll post my art on it. But I don't want to jumpscare anyone, so on the rare occasions that I draw graphic content I'll give warnings and tag it well.

I do think it's slightly funny that some of you will (rightfully) complain about how byler tumblr only reads and recommends fics from the same 5 authors, and yet @byierficrecs, who has the highest author variation I've seen for this fandom's fic recs, and has amazing graphics to go with it, never seems to crack 20 notes on their posts🤨

#wonderful game. some of the best and worst writing you will ever see #nearly limitless options that also break whenever you test them a little too much #a wide variety of lovable characters and it's immediately obvious who the writers spent the most time on #and who they expect you to like and dislike #and all of them have been slightly sanded down to be palatable #women are allowed to be fighters and barbarians but still get bizarrely sexualized #at a rate that imo is disproportionate to the men #you're allowed to be evil but the game will go out of its way to remind you you're doing a Bad Thing #it absolutely deserves the praise and is also overhyped

hng rgg aaaggh. maybe confronting the possibility that perhaps i might have sexuality and gender related ocd tendencies and i really don't want to *lays down and cries on the lab floor*

#i know that i have ocd tendencies. i do not want to self diagnose however #i struggle with obsessive rumination and doubt and circular thought patterns #and compulsive self-checking and reassurance seeking #wayyyyy more than i think is normal and it is often extremely distressing #and i don't want to admit that maybe it is a problem #and i know i have struggled with this before about a pretty wide variety of other things #like religion and specific beliefs about being a certain kind of evil that lead to extreme intrusive thoughts and constant body monitoring #but i am finally finally out of those things and don't deal with them at all anymore #and i don't want to admit that this specific kind of thing might just be something i deal with for my whole life #and also don't want to admit this Specifically may mean i can't be involved in the larger queer community #because it is straight up bad for my brain because i can't stop myself from circling identities like a demented carousel #and i just want so badly to be able to be part of that because i want a community and constantly feel the need to belong somewhere #(which is a whole OTHER issue but we aren't dealing with that right now)

I'm tired of living in the boonies bec why am I qualified to be a preschool teaching assistant in virginia but here there's nothing but fast food and dollar stores

#lindsay speaks #I'm not saying preschool teacher is my dream job but like #it's so frustrating to HAVE qualifications. but not for anything in your area #i was an intern radio show host in high school for 2 years+ i did a scholarship program that gave me 1 year of teaching experience #for example!! i have a lot of varying skills!!! but instead I have with 8-9 hour shifts 30min break only and by the end of the day I'm with #manager that doesn't like me bec I'm still learning where everything is..... all i can do is my best. i guess i just feel like crap having #skills that i can't use and instead having a job that doesn't need any of the things i can do + minimum wage... it makes me feel a little #like . why isn't there any options when i have a wide variety of skills.... it feels meaningless...#// vent

#keese draws #eternal gales #Ive been thinking abt them a lot lately #theyre my other quote unquote time looper #and those quotes are pretty damn big because its entirely within their own control brute just has time rewinding abilities basically #but they sort of did a self inflicted timeloop to try to save one of their friends (softie)#it was. a rough time.#and spoilers but it didnt end well softie in the current version of reality died as a child #the past timeline stuff is mostly nonexistent within eg proper but sprinkles and tali both get to remember some stuff so good for them #<- bad for them. they do not have a good time #butter (aka current brute) would have remembered if it wasnt for the hastag brain damage #I have a LOT of thoughts and feeling on past timeline stuff but thats either stuff Ive already talked abt or stuff Im too tired to explain #well I've already explained everything in this post before but shhhh I like to imagine newcomers will actually read this #but yeah brute is my beloved they absolutely suck ass at being a timelooper they have no imagination and little patience #two of their group spent the entire period of the loops repeatedly murdering eachother and brute Never found out #all because they were too honed in on like 3 staliens to even consider how weird it was that one or both of them would Always go missing #just sprinkles showing up bleeding out like yeah. looser went to a farm where he can run around and be happy. dont worry abt it.#brute isnt stupid but they are impatient and bad at emotional stuff which makes keeping track of everyones issues hard as hell #theres so much fucking drama going on in this gaggle of teens getting them to not murder eachother is a challenge that even the more #emotionally intelligent characters arouns wouldnt be able to solve without a great deal of struggle #so brute spends a huge deal of it all feeling incredibly lost and frustrated and this leads to them making some rash decisions that make #things get much worse for both them and those around them #their arc with how they view themself over the loops is one of my favorite things abt them #finding yourself only to kill yourself all over again for the sake of those around you and all that jazz #fun fact! butters name comes from back when they were brute!#they had been internally calling themself by that for so long that by the time the brain damage left that was the name that stuck with them #brute just never got to actually use the name fully in their version of reality for a wide variety of reasons #mostly the time loop but also because most of the others wouldnt take it seriously even when they tried #this was mostly because butter is well. a fully english word that doesnt have any stalien equivalent #brute just made some bullshit up to act as their language version of it
